Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs and with new caliber marking "360 Express". A wide sling loop is screwed to bottom rib. Round bodied Jones under lever action is fitted with island back spring locks having round bodied serpentine non-rebounding hammers and back sliding stalking safety that engage at half cock. Action and locks are engraved with 60% coverage varying sized scroll. There is no makers or retailers name on barrels or action parts. Serial number "1845" is on trigger guard bow. Nicely figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 1/2" over checkered wood butt with engraved steel heel and toe plates. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip, and a sling eye is on toe line. Matching splinter forend has a Scott type lever release but shaped differently than usual Scott guns. Weight: 7 lbs 14 oz. CONDITION: Fine, original. Barrels retain 70% original blue thinned on sides with light freckling overall. Action and locks retain 50 - 60% color. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish with numerous bumps and marks. Checkering lightly worn. Bores are fine to very fine, strong rifling throughout, fairly bright with some scattered pitting toward breech ends, mostly in right barrel. It will still shoot quite well. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Right lock is fine, left lock a bit short seared. Trigger pull is exceptionally light, needs attention. Safety will not engage. The .360 express cartridge is the ballistic equivalent of 38-55 Winchester. With a little mechanical attention, this cute little rifle would be ideal for deer sized game. MGM203.
