38-7/8" laminated steel barrel is engraved "R. B. Rodda & Co" "Gun Makers To H E The Viceroy & H. R. H. The Duke of Edinburgh. London & Calcutta" on top. Bottom of barrel is stamped with London black power proofs and "NOT FOR BALL", as well as Birmingham nitro re-proofs for 4 bore 4" chamber. Case hardened round bodied Jones under lever action is fitted with peninsula back spring right hand lock with round bodied serpentine rebounding hammer. Action and lock are engraved with line, geometric, and scroll borders. "R. B. Rodda & Co" is on lockplate. Blued trigger guard has serial number on tang. Well streaked European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over large Silver type pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip, and a vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter type forend with horn tip attaches to barrel with captive side bolt through oval steel escutcheons. CONDITION: Very fine, as completely restored, appears unfired since restoration with only a few light handling and assembly marks in well done traditional finishes, most notably perhaps six or seven fairly deep marks on buttstock. Bore is very fine to excellent, with a hint of frosting. Action is very tight. Lock is very fine. MGM211.
