Makers name is on each side. Top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard are blued. Serial number is on trigger guard tang which extends to case hardened steel grip cap in typical British fashion. Matching splinter forend has forward pivoting lever release. Weight: 10 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: Very fine to excellent, as partially refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of a "best" London reblue over some light marks and one or two scattered minor pits. Lettering is a bit soft. All three sight leaves have been lowered. Action retains 60-70% original case hardening color, silvered on fences, and edges, with brown flecking around bottom. Blued parts correctly reblued. Trigger guard silvering on tang. Stocks retain nearly all of a hand rubbed oil refinish, checkering nicely re-cut. Bores are excellent, shiny with sharp rifling throughout. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. The 450-400 3-1/4 is considered to be one of the best all around African cartridges. Being superior to the .375 H&H for buffalo. This is a well balanced, great handling rifle. MGM35.
