Lot consists of: (A) A set of three spectacular large tantos, unlike any of the other knives from this collection. This knife features a traditional tanto blade shape with its original edge, a bonesplitter spine and a brushed finish and block lettered "Gaston" in an arch shape. Highly engraved bolsters are complimented by pinned and dovetailed oosic handles. Very high quality knife. No sheath. CONDITION: One large and one small dink on the bottom edge of the bolster on the mark side. The handles have shrunk slightly. (B) The knife displays an upswept blade with its original edge and bonesplitter grind along the spine. The "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch is found on the brushed finish blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is surrounded by dovetailed and dyed burlwood scales, secured by Mosaic pins with red liners. A very high quality knife. No sheath. CONDITION: The handles exhibit minimal shrinkage, and there is a small scuff on the mark side bolster. (C) The last tanto features a large upswept blade, with a brushed finish matching the bolsters. Blade is etched with "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature. The original edge is present with a bonesplitter grind on the spine. The full and tapered tang is highlighted with pinned and dovetailed Indian Sambar stag handles. Very high quality. No sheath. CONDITION: The stag exhibits slight shrinkage, and there is a tiny ding on the mark side bolster. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
