Probably second half 18th century. For a nearly identical example, see plate 115 in "American Indian Tomahawks" by Harold L. Peterson. The hand forged iron head has a large teardrop eye, a bulbous bowl, and a molding at the base of the blade. The blade has a steel edge. Measures 8-3/4" overall with a 4-3/4" blade with a crescent cutting edge. CONDITION: Dark heavy patina overall with a corroded surface. A very early example with attractive form. DMG
