Lot consists of: (A) Foot Officer's saber with Solingen "Iron Proof" blade with partial double fuller running approximately 2/3 of the length of the blade, etched with florals, stands of arms, and patriotic motifs. Cast and chased guard with more decoration en suite. Pommel en suite. Fishskin grip with triple strands of brass wire, one braided. Leather and brass scabbard with two hangers. Bottom of throat, top and bottom of locket, and top of drag decorated with lines. CONDITION: Good. Blade is smooth with a few areas of darkness and one area of old inactive rust at the tip of the blade. Guard has some marks commensurate with use and has a copper patina. Fishskin grip has shrunk and split towards the front and pulled away from the ferrule, revealing wood beneath. Pommel en suite with guard. Scabbard is good, complete, with some craquelure and flaking of leather. Brass of scabbard has also acquired a copper patina. (B) Foot Officer's saber with 30 - 1/2" gently curving blade with configuration identical to (A) except as listed: fishskin grip has one single strand of braided wire. Metal scabbard with "AMES MFG. CO. / CHICOPEE / MASS" on top hanger. CONDITION: Blade has an even gunmetal patina that obscures virtually all of the engraving, with just the faintest traces still visible, primarily in the forte. Brass has taken on a red copper patina on both blade and scabbard with some evidence of yellowing in protected areas. Fishskin grip is split along left side for the entire length of the grip. Rest of scabbard is a smooth brown patina. Drag with a few door pinches. (C) 1840 Musicians Saber produced by Emerson and Silver in 1863. Plain spear point blade with single fuller running for virtually the entire length of the blade. Left side ricasso marked "Emerson / & / Silver / Trenton / NJ", right side "U.S. / DFM / 1863". DFM proof on knucklebow. Cast guard in imitation of wire. Metal scabbard with brass throat and drag with DFM proof on drag. CONDITION: Very good, blade shiny with a few scattered areas of darkness and evidence of cross polish at ricasso. Guard, grip, and pommel are very good with evidence of use and a deep yellow patina. Scabbard is very good with some scattered oxidation and a some door pinches that do not interfere with the blade. EW
