Made by Peter Altmaier in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania circa 1870. Lever action nickel plated engraved brass frame with tube fed magazine. Octagon rifled barrel with rifle sights marked "P. A. Altmaier's Pat. Repeating Mountaineer Rifle Harrisburg, Pa.". Gun has a serial number of 1 and dated 1881. Walnut checkered buttstock missing buttplate. Threaded steel cleaning rod with brass tip. Brass nickel plated lever. Iron trigger and hammer. CONDITION: Barrel has peppery pitting with shootable bore and traces of original blue finish turning plum. Frame has traces of nickel and remnants of black applied paint, possibly original. Wood has sharp checkering with some usage dings and faded varnish with usage damage. Missing breechblock with some mechanical issues. Rare gun that is seldom available for sale. DLM
