As with most all Colt artillery model single action revolvers, if only this gun could talk! This example has an early Ainsworth inspected barrel serial number 7962, a late David F. Clark inspected frame, serial number 120508, the mystery sub-inspector "J" trigger guard, serial number 17024, and an early David F. Clark period backstrap, serial number 42150. The grip cartouches are too faint to determine as is the cylinder serial number. 5 - 1/2" barrel with early "script" barrel address. Blue with casehardened frame and hammer. One piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Barrel has approximately 50% original thinning blue mixed with patina. Very nice "feathering" around the front sight. Strong traces of case color on frame and hammer. Grips are excellent showing modest wear and faint cartouches. Cylinder has approximately 10% blue mixed with patina, faint partial serial number and strong sub-inspection mark "P". Action is tight and crisp. Bore is excellent showing modest abrasion. -MKS-
