William Thomas Smedley, a freelance artist, was an illustrator of books and major magazines and a portrait painter of New York society. He attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and began as an illustrator for Harper's and was a contributor to major magazines such as, Scribner's and The Ladies Home Journal. Ex: Kennedy Galleries, New York. Smedley was a member of several artist's societies and received many awards for his work.
