Model 1842 Aston Percussion pistol. Lock plate is marked "US/H.ASTON" and "MIDDTN/CONN./1850". Barrel is marked "US" over inspector stamp "JH/P". Round steel barrel with brass blade front sight. Most of the metal components turning to a dull patina. Brass components have been heavily polished. Walnut wood stock. Swivel type steel ramrod. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its original finish with wear and patina. Brass components show signs of heavy cleaning and polish. Wood has numerous handling marks and gouges, in addition to a repaired crack in front and to the rear of the lock plate. Fair bore with some light pitting. Hammer is tight. Nipple shows signs of heavy use. JWA
