A) Model 1881 New York National Guard helmet with US Army insignia added. Black wool-covered cork body with its New York National Guard insignia removed and replaced with US Army Model 1881 Artillery insignia and reproduction leather chin strap. CONDITION: Poor. The cork body is broken and pushed in at the crown, a cardboard disk has been added to the interior to reinforce the crown. B) The Citadel Military Academy shako with pressed felt body and leather visor. CONDITION: Poor. The brass front plate shows corrosion, visor is misshapen and the cloth liner has heavy wear. DG
