British Pattern 1856 cavalry carbine made by E.P Bond London, England circa 1860. Some of these guns saw use in the American Civil War by the Confederacy. Round in the white smoothbore barrel with blade front sight and remnants of a captured ramrod. Barrel has "V" "P" proofs and Crown British Proofs. Percussion lock marked with "E P Bond" over "London" with single trigger control. Walnut stock with brass hardware and 2 iron barrel bands. Illegible word on rear of wood behind saddle rail. CONDITION: Gun has seen some heavy usage with missing ramrod replaced with hardwood rod. Metal parts have a pitted appearance fading to a silvery patina. Saddle ring is missing. Tang screw is a replacement. Wood has dark oil soaked appearance. Dark bore with pitting and lock does not hold cock. DLM
