Lot consists of two unmounted prints of Civil War subjects by Mort Kunstler in their original sleeve folders. A) “The Final Visit / Robert E. Lee / Lexington, VA.” Lee, alone, in contemplation at the grave of Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson. Mortally wounded at Chancellorsville by friendly fire, Jackson is still regarded by many as an irreparable loss to the Confederacy and Lee is shown reflecting on the gloomy road ahead. CONDITION: Excellent. B) “Twilight at Gettysburg / July 1, 1863.” Lee in the streets of Gettysburg at dusk amid troops celebrating victory in the first day’s fighting, soon to be stymied on the second day and repulsed on the third. CONDITION: Excellent. Both prints ready to be framed. SR
