Fine and rare 18k yellow gold Henri Grandjean & Co., Locle, Switzerland, minute repeating pocket watch in a beautifully hand decorated hunting case with engraved flowers and monogrammed central shield, Circa 1880. Hand engraved silver dial with gold accents, black Roman numerals and fleur de lis hands. The watch is triple signed, being marked "Hri. Grandjean & Co. Locle" on the dial, case and movement. The case is fully hallmarked and numbered 30378, as is the movement. The cuvette is engraved "No. 30378, Hi. Grandjean & Co, Locle, London". The case measures 43mm in diameter. Gross weight is 79.3 grams. The watch is running, in excellent condition with repeater functions tested, working and chiming properly.

HENRI GRANDJEAN (1803 - 1879) Swiss chronometer-maker. Established in Le Locle, Switzerland, in 1824, Grandjean Henri et Compagnie S.A. was a specialist manufacturer of pocket watches with grande and petite sonnerie, and marine chronometers. Henri Grandjean was a founder of the Neuchâtel Observatory in 1858, and the recipient of numerous First Class medals and awards. Alongside Ulysse Nardin and Louis Richard, he was one of the first to establish marine chronometer manufacturing in Switzerland. Condition: (Excellent).
