Colt Model 1878 Double Action revolver made by Colt Firearms Company, Hartford, Connecticut in 1898. 5 -1/2" blued round rifled barrel with blade front sight with Colt Address with caliber marking of "38 Colt" with blued ejector. Blued double action frame with lanyard loop and Colt checkered two piece hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt in oval. Note that the Blue Book only lists approximately 40 guns as having been made in this caliber. Factory letter indicates shipment as a 5 - 1/2" blue gun in .38 Colt with rubber grips sold to Janney, Semple & Company, Minneaplois Minnesota, and send to Melville Mercantile Company (no location information), on December 3rd 1898, in a shipment of 1. CONDITION: Gun has been heavily cleaned with replacement cylinder rod button. Good grips with excellent bore and mechanics. DLM
