1920, USA: An incredible Wurlitzer orchestrion, equipped with a bank of 38 flute pipes, a bank of 38 violin pipes, piano, mandolin, triangle, percussion with base and snare drums. In total, there are 72 pipes, and unlike many band organs of its time, this orchestrion can play a multitude of tunes, switching music rolls through the automatic rolls changer. It is housed in a fine quartered oak cabinet with elegant carved details, beautiful original stained glass windows and a revolving "Wonderlight" displaying a colorful light show as the music plays. Manufactured by Wurlitzer between 1913 and 1924. CONSIDERATIONS: Cosmetically, this Wurlitzer CX has a wonderful deep rich finish, all original stained glass, and like many of the Wurlitzer BX and CX orchestrions, a case model we have not seen before. Mechanically, this instrument was running off a MIDI system and has been converted back to rolls, though the MIDI componentry still exits inside the cabinet and presumably - with a few upgrades - could play again via electronic control. A very desirable orchestrion by collectors and a fine example for any collection. Includes 143 music rolls.
