The L'epee factory in the south of France near the Swiss border began in 1839 and was well established when this music box was made in 1880. Still in business today making time pieces, L'epee is a unique and well constructed music box sought after by collectors worldwide. This example plays an eight-tune 15 - 1/3" cylinder, housed in a beautify inlaid walnut case. Serial number 4819. Condition shows light wear to the case, a complete and un-repaired comb, with original tune card. A great example of a French maker and worthy of any collection.
