Rare early 1950s TWA desk model of a Martin 404 Skyliner. Only 103 Martin 404’s were built with the first deliveries of the aircraft in 1951. Eastern Airlines took delivery of 60, which they named "Silver Falcons" and TWA had 40 which they named "Skyliners". The U.S. Coast Guard used 2 as VIP transports and the Martin Company retained 1 for their company. With only 40 Skyliners ordered by TWA, this is a rare model. Constructed of Aluminum, the model is adorned with standard TWA decals and is mounted on an aluminum stand with felt base. The stand is appropriately marked as property of TWA and most likely resided in an executive's office. The model measures approximately 13 - 1/2" tall with a 18 - 3/4" wingspan. Underside of the fuselage is marked "MS131". The model exhibits a rough texture due to corrosion, and the decals have mostly flaked and faded. Aluminum stand is nicely preserved with faded, but clear TWA property marking, scattered chips in the black paint. Underside of the wings and fuselage are bright and smooth with scattered pox marks. Simulated clear plastic propellers are absent.

Condition: (Good).

Item Dimensions: 16" x 19" x 12 - 1/2".
