AGS CERTIFIED #10118. DSP. Scarce C. 1920's European Porcelain Flange Sign for Shell advertising "Shell Kerosene for Lamps, Stoves & Heaters" throughout each side. CONDITION: Side one displays well with fair color & gloss showing areas of staining as well as touch up at the lower center edge. Side one shows moderate wear along the entire outer edge with minor metal loss, (Score 70). Side two also shows overall dullness in the gloss throughout the field as well as touch up at the lower center edge that extends into the "R" of Kerosene. Side two shows moderate spider webbing throughout the field with edge wear present along the entire edge, (Score 69). Sign shows heavy porcelain loss at the flange with light metal loss but hangs well displaying with the piece nicely. Although heavily worn the piece displays well with an excellent patina.
