Among the very first Winchester Model 1886 rifles produced bearing "125" serial number. Fit with a 26" blued octagon barrel chambered in .45-70 with a full-length magazine tube, 1-line address, drift adjustable blade front sight, and "1886" marked ladder rear. Case-hardened receiver with early "MODEL 1886" tang marking. Early plunger retained lever. Stocked in plain walnut with steel nose cap and crescent rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel has drifted to a brown patina, markings somewhat softened. The receiver displays a characteristic silvery gray patina with evidence of cleaning. Rifle is finely restocked, with only a few minor handling marks. Bore shows well-defined rifling with some moderate black powder oxidation. Mechanically fine.
