Serial number applied December 17, 1898, and shipped from the warehouse May 3, 1899. Blued 26" octagon barrel chambered in .38-55 with full-length magazine tube, blade front sight, and flat top sporting rear sight. High-polish blued takedown receiver with case-hardened lever and hammer. Plain trigger. Scarce "I" pattern checkered moderately figured walnut stocks with composite WRACO pistol grip and crescent steel butt plate. "6983" assembly number observed on the left side of the tang, on the stock under the butt plate, and on the inside of the butt plate. Factory research confirms all options. CONDITION: Near excellent. Rifle retains the vast majority of its original factory-applied blue, with some areas thinning to patina. Some scratching present on receiver. Significant portions of nitre blue displayed on the loading gate and screws. Strong case color patterning on lever and hammer with a few bright flashes of color. Stocks appear very fine as refreshed with only scattered light marks. Bright bore with strong, well-defined rifling. Mechanically fine. A very nice antique special order semi-deluxe '94.
