30" ladder Damascus barrels with brass bead front sight, and octagonal to round, octagonal about the breech. Top flat of breech reads "Holland & Holland 98 New Bond St London", and appears to be later engraving, possibly a retrace. Underside of barrels with London proofs for a 16 gauge barrel. Round nose forearm with an Anson plunger release, marked "7022" on inside of wood, horn forearm, and lightly engraved exterior iron. Round bodied action with rose and scroll pattern engraving. Action flat only with view proof. Swan neck rebounding hammer on a back action peninsula lock. Lock is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" with engraving en suite. Long tang trigger guard engraved en suite with single trigger. Wave pattern walnut stock with point pattern checkering about the wrist, silver oval in toe line, and a steel buttplate. CONDITION: Gun has been extensively restored, with areas of pitting visible throughout both barrel and action. Browning and case colors both redone, engraving heavily softened by case colors. Stocks are very good, sanded and revarnished with wood shy to metal. Forearm has a replaced 3" splinter on right side. Mechanically fine, bore is good with some frosting throughout. Accompanied by a previous description of a similar gun from Skinners, serial number 7022, that came from Westley Richards.
