Originally built in 1875 for US military use, and subsequently rebuilt for US military use in the 1890s during the Spanish-American War. Features include 5 - 1/2" barrel chambered in .45 Colt with blade front sight, single line barrel address, blue finish, color case hardened frame, and 1 piece walnut grips. Matching serial numbers observed on butt, trigger guard, and frame. Cylinder is near matching, bearing the partial serial number of "146". Barrel was renumbered to match during military use rebuild, and has a matching serial number to the rest of the gun as well as "33524" near ejector rod housing. Military sub-inspector markings on all major parts. Arsenal replacement grips have been properly marked with sub-inspector marking of "RAC" at butt. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Very good for its age, with a majority of the factory bluing remaining mixing with a brown patina with light handling marks throughout. Frame retains brilliant case colors in protected areas. Grips have been lightly sanded with no major cracks or repairs. Mechanically tight and crisp. Bore is bright with minor freckling and crisp rifling.
