California style dirk knife by Michael Price of San Francisco, circa mid-19th century. 6" semi-spearpoint blade, left side of blade at ricasso roll stamped ''M. PRICE'' in radius over ''SAN FRANCISCO.'' Marine ivory 1-piece grip depicts a raised relief twisted nautical rope over a stylized corduroy pattern that may represent the plank deck of a ship. Russet brown period leather belt sheath with finely stippled linear arrow pattern that fits the knife extremely well. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Fine to near excellent. Blade shows even gray patina and very minor mossing overall. Grip shows heavy golden patina with minor fissures emanating from eye nut at pommel. Grips and guard are solid to blade.
