According to the Colt Factory Archive letter, this gun shipped as a .38 caliber with a 3 - 1/2" barrel, nickel plated, and with rubber grips. It was shipped to E.J. Murphy, address unavailable, on November 5, 1881, in a shipment of one gun. The gun is housed in its original pink picture box. The gun has an etched panel on the left side of the barrel and a 2-line address on top of the barrel. Patent dates on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and the back strap. The last three digits are on the rear of the cylinder. The screws, trigger, center pin, and the rear of the hammer are nitre blue. The left grip has been repaired. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the factory-applied nickel finish. The nitre blue shows just a hint of wear. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. The box is in great shape with some staining on the top label. There are no seam splits on this box.
