Manufactured 1936. Thick half moon front sight, square notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 1 block Colt patent and address information, right side with "COLT // SUPER .38 / AUTOMATIC // (Rampant Colt)". Frame with serial number on right side, "60" sub-inspector on right side of trigger guard, "P" and VP proof on left side. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, slide release, short milled trigger, magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing without lanyard loop, and fully checkered walnut grips. 2-tone magazine has been reblued with .38 Auto designation on baseplate. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the Colt high polish bluing with some very minor marks from handling and storage, likely shop wear. Some minor silvering to high edges consistent with holster wear. Minor takedown mark. Appropriate distension around proofs from application. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling. This is a top quality example.
