Per the included factory letter, this gun shipped as a 4 - 1/2" with blued finish, unlisted stocks, and shipped to J.E. Haseltine & Co., Portland, Oregon, on August 28th, 1937, in a shipment of 1. It was subsequently modified by King and now features a King-style brass bead front sight with inset mirror to enhance lighting (referred to as the Super Police Night Sights), adjustable rear sight with U outline, and barrel weight. Standard checkered walnut grips. Accompanied by a King pamphlet showing off their products. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, with the vast majority of the factory bluing with distension still visible about several proofs from the application of the stamp. Some superficial scratching and scattered handling marks from use, some silvered. Some missing visible on slide and straps, with front strap showing more gunmetal grey than rear. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent, bright, with strong rifling.
