This book contains a listing of all the original Colt manufactured Thompson machine guns organized in serial number order with information on configuration (whether fitted with Cutts compensator), converted to 1928 specifications, and also past owners and/or history (including dates) if available. There are also sections that provide the reader with details about historical events, such as when 495 Thompson machine guns were seized before they could be transported to Ireland, as well as other events and notable users, such as the St. Valentines Day Massacre, and use of Thompsons by John Dillinger, the FBI, and the U.S. Navy. There are sections pertaining to destroyed Thompsons and exported Thompsons as well. Truly one of the most exhaustive and entertaining reference works pertaining to the Thompson machine gun out there, and one which Thompson collectors acknowledged they return to over and over. This particular specimen was autographed by the author to Jim (Dr James Watson) in May 2002. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Near excellent and clean with a bit of yellow on the white autographed flyleaf, with insert card instructions for "Loading Type L and Type C Drums", as well as an accompanying business card of Gordan Herigstad. This is an outstanding resource for any Thompson collector/enthusiast. JWK 2023-12-32
