Circa 1953. A best quality over and under game gun with 27" nitro proofed shiny blued barrels. Barrels with ejectors and 2 - 1/2" chambers. Barrels have been built with no top rib and a round brass front bead sight. Barrels with reversed chokes, with Improved Cylinder on top, and Modified on bottom. Barrel flats marked "2 1/2". Top barrel on right reads "Boss & Co.", London proofs for 1 1/8". Left side of barrel reads "41 ALBEMARLE STREET, PICCADILLY, LONDON .W.". Top of barrel at breech with gold inlay "2". Side lock action with approximately 65% case colors is engraved with Boss & Co. traditional scroll and rose bouquets. The Boss patented single trigger (triple pull) is protected by a blacked right hand rolled edge trigger guard that extends through a long bottom strap. Trigger guard and bottom strap are engraved with scrolls. Bottom strap with serial number. Trigger plate ahead of trigger guard is engraved "BOSS PATENT No 11278". Blacked scroll engraved top lever with gold inlay "2". Gun is auto safe and "SAFE" is in gold. Action bolsters are engraved "PATENT No. 3307 1909". Best quality dark honey colored walnut stock with nice figuring is built with a finely checkered English straight hand grip, gold oval and black leather covered recoil pad. Gun with matched checkered splinter game forend. Forend with Anson push button release. The gun is complete with case and all accessories. Gun lives in a lightweight toe under leather case. Newer case with white paper trade label, snap caps, cleaning rod, square oil bottle and cleaning equipment. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels with mostly all of their original color with a slight bit of frosting and handling marks. Single trigger action and ejectors are sound. Stock and forend both very good with light handling marks. Case good with handling marks. Note: This serial number is listed on page 326 of the Boss & Co. 2nd Edition book as part of a composed pair with gun serial number 8678.
