An 1882 patent No. 39 beehive-top single-guard bellbottom lantern made by the Adams & Westlake Co. The bayonet base is a steam gauge unit with a glass fount and damaged No. 1 ratchet burner, but has acceptable fit. "New York Central" is nicely embossed on the lid reflector. The clear No. 39 extended base globe is embossed "R W & O RR" in block font with average relief. There are many cracks in the globe - including the lettering - but it is intact. The lantern shows light pitting with a dark patina overall.

Condition: (Fair).

Item Dimensions: 6 - 1/4" x 6 - 1/4" x 10 - 3/4".
