A Thompson's patent double-guard, fixed-base bellbottom lantern made by the Taylor Manufacturing Co. of New Britain, Connecticut. "C. V. R. R." is nicely embossed on the lid reflector along with an embossed pattern opposite. The lantern retains its original smooth patina. The bail has separated completely from the saddle and needs to be re-riveted. The saddle securing screw is a replacement. The tin, plug-in fount is not original to this lantern; it wants a similar unit with a glass fount. The clear globe is a standard New England barrel and is not RR marked.
Condition: (Good).
