A nickel plated, brass conductor's model, probably made by the Steam Gauge and Lantern Co., but it's not hallmarked. The frame is highly engraved with leaves and vines on the chimney and base. The base is fixed, and the oil cup, complete with fount and no. 1 ratchet burner, screws into the base from underneath. The lid reflector is beautifully engraved "PRESENTED TO COND'R G. F. EATON BY EMPLOYEES OF THE BERKSHIRE DIV. OF THE N.Y.N.H & H.R.R.Co. 1893" Several different fonts are used in the engraving, and some are shadowed. The lid latch spring has separated and needs to be resoldered. The base is significantly stoved down giving the lantern a slight backward list when viewed from the front. Much of the original nickel plating finish is worn off. The globe is a gorgeous split green/clear with "G. F. EATON" nicely engraved in old English, surrounded by a tulip cartouche. With a competent restoration, this would be a premier piece in the hobby.

Condition: (Good).
