A scarce no. 39 tin top, double guard, bellbottom model made by the Star Headlight Co. for the Lake Shore. "L S & M S R R" is heavily embossed on the lid reflector. This frame is the earlier three-piece lid style, ca. mid-1890s. The frame has been cleaned, and there is some sparse, light pitting, but condition is very good. The No. 39 Corning-style globe is a very pleasing, medium root beer AMBER color (good translucence), rare for this RR, and is embossed "L S & M S Ry" in block font and in average relief. There is a tight, vertical crack in the back of the globe that goes from top to about 2-1/2". This is not distracting and can't be seen when displayed.
