A Thompson's patent double-guard, fixed-base bellbottom lantern made by the Taylor Manufacturing Co. of New Britain, Connecticut. "N. Y. N. H. & H. R. R." is beautifully embossed in dog-bone font on the lid reflector. "HARTFORD DIVISION." is embossed in serif font on the top cap. There is no maker's hallmark that is sometimes found on the bail saddle. The plug-in oil cup with glass fount is correct for this model. The lantern shows a nice clean, natural patina with light surface etching on the lid. The clear globe is a classic New England barrel, technically not correct for this model but it fits well and is embossed "NYNH&HRR" in block font. This is a real nice unit.
