A Buffalo Steam Gauge (not hallmarked) double guard, brass top bellbottom model made for the Eastern RR. "E.R.R." is nicely embossed in serif font on the lid reflector. Chimney vent filigree is the keyhole style. There is a faint "Pat Apl'd For" stamp on the rotating chimney collar and two 1871 dates faint on the lid reflector. The top globe holder is damaged and will not clamp the globe. The bayonet base is correct for this model and has a glass fount with no. 1 damaged whale oil burner affixed. The clear globe is a classic New England barrel and is not RR marked.
