An early Dane Westlake & Covert double-guard brass-top removable globe lantern. The frame cage is wire-tied and fixes to an intermediate base via release buttons, allowing the globe to be removed. This fixes into a bayonet base with another set of release buttons. This model is usually not RR marked, however "V. C. RR" is embossed in the base. This might be a fantasy marking, because the letters do not conform to a standard die curvature. The base has a No. 1 "pick wick" lard screw affixed. Metal condition shows a dark patina. There is a "WM Westlake" patent stamp underneath. The split-color signal green/clear No. 39 extended base globe is not marked. There is a shallow chip in the top fitter. Color translucence is good.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 5 - 1/2" x 5 - 1/2" x 10".
