An 1882 patented beehive-top single-guard No. 39 bellbottom, made by the Adams & Westlake Co. "WEST SHORE" is nicely embossed on the lid reflector. The bayonet base has the A&W patent stamp and has a No. 1 ratchet burner affixed. The base is stoved down, but the lantern sits flat and mostly straight. The No. 39 extended base globe is beautifully embossed "W S R R" in serif font. The globe shows little evidence of RR use. The lantern was cleaned long ago, and shows a medium-dark, generally smooth patina, with some rust coming through an old overcoat.
