A brass-top No. 39 double-guard lantern made by the Railroad Signal, Lamp & Lantern Co. "N Y W S & B Ry" is nicely embossed on the lid reflector. This model has the adjustable chimney for clamping the globe. The bayonet base is correct for this model, has an 1875 patent date stamped in, and has a No. 1 "Pick Wick" lard screw affixed. The red flashed No. 39 extended base globe is nicely embossed "N Y W S & B Ry" in average relief. There is a crack behind the left seam, starting from the bottom and coming halfway up, ending near the seam, not distracting when on display. Color translucence is good. The frame shows light surface etching on the base and less on the lid. It appears to have been cleaned long ago.

Condition: (Good).

Item Dimensions: 6 - 1/2" x 6 - 1/2" x 11".
