A Steam Gauge & Lantern Co. double-guard brass-top model made in the New England configuration. This frame has a New England Glass Co. patented base that is removed via the pinch spring assembly. There is a No. 1 ratchet burner affixed. The lid latch spring is a full circle brass unit, characteristic of the old NEG models. The flashed red globe is a classic New England barrel, with "C. R. R. R." copper-wheel engraved. Color translucence is a little dark. The globe has numerous top and base fitter flakes. The lantern shows surface rust over a previous cleaning long ago.
