A fixed-base No. 39 double-guard brass-top lantern made by the Railroad Signal Lamp & Lantern Co. (hallmark stamped in brass top) for the Hartford & Connecticut Western Railroad. The plug-in glass fount is correct for this model and has a No. 1 ratchet burner affixed. "H & C W R R" is nicely embossed on the lid reflector. This model has the rotating chimney globe clamp. The red flashed No. 39 extended base globe is nicely embossed "C N E Ry" in average relief. The globe is a perfect example, showing no signs of RR use. The lantern frame shows light surface etching, a slight stove in the base and there is an 1875 patent date stamped into the side of the lower cylinder. There is some shallow denting in the brass top. This is a real nice lantern.

Condition: (Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 6 - 1/2" x 6 - 1/2" x 11".
