A real nice, early wood and tin New Haven step box from Grand Central Terminal in New York. This unit is constructed with wood panels joined by tin corner pieces all screwed together, possibly made in the New Haven's wood shop (?). The top has old rubberized coated canvas, non slip overlay. There is distressed, old black paint over the entire body. "N.Y.N.H.&H.RR.Co. ___G.C.T. NY," is beautifully stenciled in gold on both opposite long sides. This step has a real nice, age-earned patina and great eye appeal.
