This is the second of 2 American 180 machine guns being offered in this auction. This specimen has the longer barrel with the high front sight to accommodate the high capacity E & L pan magazine. This machine gun utilizes .22 LR ammo only and includes one pan magazine and one drum driving mechanism. Markings are located on the underside of the receiver on this specimen which was manufactured in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is a knurled knob which allows for the removal of the bbl and fore grip assembly. Cocking handle is on the left side, safety on the right side. Selector switch is a push-button reminiscent of the MP43/MP44. The American 180 utilizes a neat magazine system to deal with the low relatively low energy produced by the .22 rimfire round and incorporates a detachable hand-wound spring device to rotate the drum on a steel plate which brings the rounds within the magazine in-line to feed into the gun. These guns work very well when tuned and given the appropriate ammunition. Among the best running, if not the best running, of all .22 machine guns. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent deep lustrous blued finish on barrel with black anodized finish on the aluminum parts as well as black hardcoat finish on some parts. Feed-way shows use and loss of finish to a gray patina which is a good indication that this gun runs well. Very attractive wood with some light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. E&L magazine is in extremely fine condition, as is driving mechanism. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire only machine gun. A very popular recreational machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2023-12-22
