Circa 1904. A very nice pair of round bodied London best game guns with 30" chopper lump nitro proof barrels. Barrels are built with ejectors and 2 - 3/4" chambers. Barrels fit with smooth concave tapered ribs. Ribs numbered "1" and "2" in gold with light floral scroll at breech and small steel (A/1) and brass (B/2) round front bead sights. Ribs read "Boss & Co., 73 St. JAMES'S STREET, LONDON.". Barrel flats on number (A/1) with London proofs that read "LP06", "NP", "12", and "70MM". Barrel flats for (B/2) read "LP02". (A/1) has chokes of Modified on left and Improved Cylinder on right. Barrel (B/2) choked Modified on left and Improved Cylinder on right. Coin finished round bodied sidelock actions with Boss & Co.'s traditional Rose bouquets and scroll pattern with "BOSS & CO" in banner ribbon, gold line cocking indicators, and blued pins. Blacked engraved top levers with checkered thumb pieces. Levers individually numbered "1" and "2" in gold. Nitre blued slide safes are engraved and checkered. Both guns with "SAFE" in gold. Both guns are non-auto safe. Both guns with right hand single triggers. Trigger plates engraved "Boss's Patent V.22894" Single triple pull triggers are protected by blacked right hand rolled edged guard with floral engraving and extend to long bottom straps with matched engraving and guns respective serial numbers "5233" and "5234". Handsome, honey colored, straight, smoky grained walnut stocks are built with English straight hand grips that are finely checkered. Stock bellies contain gold ovals that bear the initials "JSD". Stocks are finished with checkered butts. Splinter forends are built with matched checkering and are also numbered "1" and "2" in gold. Forend also with Anson releases. Interior iron metal is blacked and engraved with each guns individual serial numbers. Guns reside in a Deluxe bilevel oak and leather motor case with Boss & Co. paper trade label, snap caps, oil bottle Boss & Co. cleaning cloth, nylon rod, and individual numbered pull through pouches. CONDITION: Excellent as rebarreled and restocked. Barrels on (A/1) show slightly more use with a slight bit of silvering at muzzle and at breech. Both pair with light and slight handling marks. Actions, triggers, and ejectors all function well. Stocks and forends on both guns are very good with very light handling marks. Case is excellent with only very light and slight usage indication. Excellent pair of London Best side by sides.
