Shipped September 16th, 1924, as a single gun shipment to Simmons Hardware of St. Louis, Missouri, for the Union Hardware Company. The included factory letter specifies the gun shipped with blued finish, .45 Colt chambering, and 4 - 1/2" barrel. Configuration remains as shipped. The rare 4 - 1/2" round barrel is stamped on the top with 2-line Colt address and on the left "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT". Blade front sight and frame notch rear. Lanyard loop butt with a pair of checkered "COLT" hard rubber grips. PROVENANCE: Purchased from the Doug Coffee Collection by the consignor. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the factory brushed blue is retained throughout, other than some light high edge silvering, faint evidence of the action operating, and an insignificant turn line. Grips are extremely fine, with only a few minor handling marks. Especially fine, bright bore. Fine mechanics and tight lockup. A very nice example.
