Circa 1910. An early, beautifully renovated, game gun with 30" chopper lump nitro proof blacked steel barrels. Barrels are built with ejectors and 2 - 3/4" chambers. Bottom of barrels are stamped "19974" and flats with "LP17", "12", "70MM", "NP", "18.5", "CIP", and "N". Barrels rib is raised, smooth, concaved with round front brass bead sight and with light floral engraving at breech. Rib reads "J. PURDEY & SONS, AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON ", MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTHS FLUID PRESSED STEEL". Chokes are Improved Modified in both barrels. The newly case color hardened action with disk set strikers, cocking indicators and color hardened double triggers is auto-safe with "SAFE" in gold. Top lever is blacked and engraved, safe slide is engraved and checkered. Triggers are protected with a blacked floral scrolled trigger guard that extends to a full length bottom strap with serial number. New smoky brown Turkish walnut stock with drop points, finely checkered English straight hand grip (checkered over wrist), and gold oval at belly, completed by a checkered butt. Splinter forend renovated to match and with a blacked checkered Anson release. Escutcheon is case colored/engraved while bottom iron metal is blacked and engraved. Interior iron metal is blacked and reads with the guns serial number and "FP". Gun resides in a leather case with brass corners. Case is furnished with a black and gold leather case label, Purdey Svelyt cleaning cloth, gold tone snap caps, gold tone oil bottle, patches and nylon cleaning rod. Outer case lid with round disk with initials "JSD" engraved. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain mostly all of their black and bores are good. Action is sound along with the triggers and ejectors. Stock is excellent with some slight bruising. Forend is excellent. Very nicely renovated gun.
