Rare 16 gauge Winchester Model 21 Standard Grade Skeet factory two-barrel set originally made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1947 for Von Lengerke and Antoine. Cody research verifies this gun originally was a standard Skeet grade two-barrel set with the current dimensions, but the upgrade has eliminated the pistol grip and checkered buttplate listed by the factory. Unknown gunsmith professionally upgraded set at unknown time to Grand American Grade. Barrel set (A) is a set of 28" blued factory Winchester Proof Steel barrels with 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors, fully matted rib, red Lyman high visibility sight, and mid-bead sight. Barrels are factory choke marked "FULL" and "MOD"; the right barrel has been opened to Improved Cylinder. Barrel set (B) 26" blued Winchester Proof steel barrels with matted rib, twin bead sights, 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors, and factory marked with "WS-1" and "WS-2" chokes. Both sets of barrels have the Winchester logo and chamber marking with added Grand American pattern floral breech engraving. Blued action with No. 6 style vignette pattern engraving with gold dogs on right and left panels, gold pheasants on bottom of receiver, and gold dog's head on blued trigger guard. Action is fitted with blued factory Winchester single selective trigger and non-automatic safety; bottom of receiver marked "SKEET". Gun is restocked with figured Circassian walnut and is checkered in Winchester 21-B style. Stock has been modified to an English straight grip and fitted with a leather-covered solid rubber recoil pad. Barrels are uniquely fitted with a matching numbered splinter and beavertail forearms, with either functioning on either barrel set. Comes in fitted Abercrombie and Fitch style case with snap caps and maker's label. CONDITION: 98% barrel blue with light handling marks and sharp engraving. 98% action finish with bright gold and sharp engraving. Near flawless wood with light handling marks; 98% finish with sharp checkering. Mirror bores with good mechanics (barrel selector button slightly sticky from limited use). Case in excellent condition.
