Circa 1898. A vintage game gun with new nitro-proofed barrels by Holland & Holland in 1989. Dovetail barrels are 28" long with 2 - 3/4" chambers and ejectors. The barrels are fit with a swamped and tapering concave game rib and with a round steel bead sight. Barrel flats show London nitro proof of 1989, "12", 2 3/4"", and "3 1/4 TONS". Bottom of barrels with serial number. Bottom rib with importer marking. Rib with gold number "2" inlay at breech. Chokes are Improved Modified on left and Modified on right. Brushed bright sidelock action with very slight traces of case colors under blacked scroll engraved top lever. Top lever with gold number "2" inlay. Sidelock action with traditional Royal scroll engraving, gold line cocking indicators, "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" in arched banner. "ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR" is engraved at bottom action. Double triggers are protected by scroll engraved trigger guard. Full length bottom strap engraved with scrolls and serial number. Beautiful smoky marbled reddish brown walnut stock with drop points, diamond shaped English straight hand grip is furnished with a silver oval and finished by thin black leather covered pad. Grip is finely checkered. The splinter forend has matched checkering, Anson push button release, and scroll engraved iron metal. Gun comes in a vintage leather case with paper trade label, engraved brass disk, snap caps, cleaning rod, and rod attachments. CONDITION: Very good as benefits from an earlier refurbishment from Holland & Holland. Barrels with mostly all of their color. Action, triggers, and ejectors are all sound. Stock and forend very good with few and light handling marks. Case good with marks from storage and use.
