Built off of an F.N. Mauser action circa 1974. 25" barrel with a thick brass blade front sight on a sweated on raised base with a rotating hood and matting on ramp and flat. Sling swivels on sweated on base on barrel and at toe line. Express rear sight on a matted island en suite with front sight, fit with 2 leaves, one fixed and one folding. Fixed sight regulated for 50 and 200 yards, folding for 350. Sweated-on QD scope mount bases obscure finer details of English proofs, but nitro proofs are easily visible. Top of barrel has H&H 13 Bruton Street address, possibly a retrace as it is quite crisp. Mounted with a Schmidt and Bender 1.5-6x scope with duplex reticle. Stippling over front ring, scope bases are lightly engraved. Floor metal engraved with "4 CARTRIDGES" and "3625" Holland & Holland serial on bottom of trigger guard. Walnut stock of a restrained straight grain with nice fiddling is checkered at forearm and pistol grip wrist with point pattern checkering, light Monte Carlo comb, large beaded cheekpiece that nicely flows into the wrist, and trap at pistol grip with 2 spare front sights. Stock terminates in a Decelerator recoil pad, and is fit with a brass plate in toe line, engraved "JW". CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated. Barrel and action with the vast majority of the bluing with some silvering on high edges and scattered handling marks from the field, legends softened but legible. Stock is good with scattered random dings and impressions from the field, but free of cracks or chips; one spliced repair on right side of tang, about 1 - 1/8" x 1/4. Pistol grip cap with the vast majority of the subdued case color. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with sharp rifling and some mild oxidation in grooves, glass is clear and throws smoothly. A well-proportioned rifle in an all-time classic caliber.
