Shipped September 14, 1956, to Colt Vice President and Director of Sales Richard S. Havourd of Wethersfield, Connecticut. As is noted in an included factory letter, this Pre-War/Post-War Single Action was assembled from Pre-War components by master gunsmiths Harry St. John and Al DeJohn, founder of the Colt Custom Shop. Only 338 of these revolvers are estimated to have been produced, largely for promotional purposes. As shipped with a blued 5 - 1/2" round barrel with blade front sight. Barrel has a "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 38 SPECIAL" marking on left and Colt's Hartford address on top. Case-hardened frame with blued finish cylinder and trigger guard. Trigger guard bears Harry St. John's "F" inspector touchmark. Factory black checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt 2-piece grips. All matching numbers with all correct markings. It comes in correct Colt-hinged purple factory box with white colored interior, as well as a scarce original Colt factory target and cleaning brush. CONDITION: Overall 99% original factory finish, no visible turn line. Factory grease still in mechanisms. 99% vivid case colors. Good grips with phenomenal checkering. Good bright bore with visible rifling and markings. Box and papers are in good condition, box corners slightly tattered, pencil numbered to the gun. An outstanding, very desirable Colt executive shipped Pre-War / Post-War, possibly test-fired only. A rare opportunity to acquire a revolver factory documented as built by perhaps Colt's most famous master gunsmiths.
