Circa 1938. A rare game gun with nitro proofed 27 - 5/8" blued barrels. Barrels have been uniquely built with Cogswell and Harrison's assisted opening mechanism and ejectors. Chamber lengths are 2 - 1/2". Barrels are also fit with a narrow swamp rib and steel round front bead sight. Rib reads "COGSWELL & HARRISON LTD. 158 PICCADILLY - LONDON". Dovetail barrel flats marked with nitro proof marks, "2 1/2"", and "1 1/8"". Chokes are Improved Modified on left and Improved Cylinder on right. Sidelock action with scroll engraving, blued pins, cocking indicators, double triggers, and serrated blacked slide safe. "SAFE" is engraved. Gun is non-auto safe. Top lever is shiny copper brown and scroll engraved. "COGSWELL & HARRISON" is engraved at action bar. Double triggers are protected by the blacked and scroll-engraved trigger guard. Bottom strap with scrolls and serial number. The straight hand gripped walnut stock with drop points with semi-smooth checkering has an engraved silver oval and finished by a black leather pad. The splinter forend with matched checkering and a nitre blued Anson push button forend. Gun comes with its vintage leather case with "COGSWELL & HARRISON" paper trade label and cleaning equipment. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels are good with virtually all of their blue. Action, triggers and ejectors are sound. Stock and forend both good with light wear. Case represents its vintage and requires new handle.
